Nokia 3.1 Plus Launched Officially With MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, 6-inch HD+ Display, Dual Rear Camera, Android One Programme

HMD Global officially announced Nokia 3.1 Plus smartphone today on October 11th in India. The company recently launched two new devices – Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus in India with good hardware specifications and at a competitive price tag. A few months ago, the company launched Nokia 3.1 in India and now they’ve come up with a successor device. All the recent Nokia devices do come with Google’s Android One programme which ensures the latest and frequent Android and security patch updates for at least two years.

HMD Global has a great record regarding the continuous software updates to their devices. Recently, HMD Global also announced that their all Nokia devices will get Android 9.0 Pie update very soon. As promised, after a few days of launch, the Nokia 6.1 Plus already gets Android 9 Pie Beta update via Nokia Beta Labs. The new Nokia 3.1 Plus comes with a matte back finish with an aluminum frame which feels quite sturdy and comfortable in hands. The front and back do have the Nokia branding and the Android One branding at the rear.

The 3.1 Plus comes with a 6-inch HD+ IPS LCD 18:9 aspect ratio display with a resolution of 1440×720 pixels. The display is covered by the 2.5D glass and thanks to Nokia for providing no-notch handset. Under the hood, the handset is powered by the latest MediaTek Helio P22 chipset coupled with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU (clocked @ 650MHz). The chipset is an octa-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 (TSMC 12nm FinFET process) based CPU clocked up to 2.0GHz. We already have seen this processor on Xiaomi Redmi 6 smartphone. The device pairs with 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage options. The storage can be expandable up to 400GB via the dedicated MicroSD card slot.

The device features dual rear cameras of a 13MP primary sensor with 3L5/f2.0 aperture and a secondary 5MP sensor with 5E9/f2.4 aperture, a LED flash. On the front, an 8MP selfie shooter features fixed focus with f/2.2 aperture lens. Both the cameras support portrait and HDR mode.

In terms of the connectivity options, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, VoWiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, BDS, Galileo, a 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB port, Nokia OZO etc. included. The handset is packed with a decent 3,500mAh battery but there is no fast charging support.

It runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo with Android One platform on the top and it has all the major sensors including a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone comes in three colors such as White, Blue, and Baltic color options. The dimensions of this device are 156.88 x 76.44 x 8.19mm and it weighs 180 grams.

Price and Availability

The Nokia 3.1 Plus priced at Rs.11,499 for the 2GB+16GB model in India. There is no confirmation about the price for 3GB+32GB model yet. The phone will go on sale in India from October 19.
