Restart the Game
First of all, you should try to force close the Call of Duty Warzone 2 game and relaunch it to ensure there is no temporary glitch. Sometimes playing the game for a long session or pending game updates to be installed can cause such issues.
Ensure MW2/Warzone 2 is Up to Date
It’s worth checking for the available game updates at your end whether any kind of issue is present with the installed game version or not.
For Steam:
- Open Steam > Click on LIBRARY.
- Right-click on Warzone 2.0 from the left panel.
- Select Properties from the drop-down list.
- Click on the UPDATES section from the left panel.

For PlayStation:
- Navigate to the PlayStation Home screen.
- Go to Games.
- Select Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
- Then press the Options button on your controller.
- Next, select Check for Update.
For Xbox:
- Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide.
- Scroll to the right and hit Settings.
- Select Updates & downloads.
- Enable the Keep my console up to date option.
- Enable the Keep my apps & games up to date option.

Scan and Repair the Game Files
This is also suggested to verify and repair the installed game files on your computer using the Steam or Battle.net launcher. This will cause several issues with the in-game experiences like downloading instance inventory error. To do that:
For Steam:
- Launch Steam > Click on LIBRARY.
- Right-click on Warzone 2.0 from the left panel.
- Click on Properties > Select the LOCAL FILES tab.
- Click on the Verify integrity of game files… button.
- Steam will start verifying the game files.
- Wait for it to complete as this process may take a while.
- Then reboot the PC to apply changes.
Please Note: If one or more files fail to verify, you should safely ignore the message. It’s quite normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files. Do Not Perform other heavy tasks while verifying game files.
For Battle.net:
- Open the Battle.net client.
- Go to Library > Select the Warzone 2.0 game.
- Click on Settings (cog wheel icon) next to the game.
- Now, click on Scan and Repair.
- Once done, restart the computer.
- Then play the Warzone 2 game again.
Clear Cache on Xbox or PlayStation Consoles
The cache is usually temporary data stored on the console’s SSD (solid state drive) over some time on the system to load applications or games quickly. However, the stored cache data can get corrupted after gathering too much.
This not only slows down the system performance but also conflicts with the game running. You should follow the steps below to clear the cache data.
For Xbox One:
- Navigate to the home screen.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose System.
- Select Console info.
- Hit Reset Console.
- Select Reset and Keep My Games & Apps.
For Xbox Series X:
- Press the Xbox button on your controller to open Settings.
- Select Devices and Connections.
- Choose Blu-Ray.
- Select Persistent Storage.
- Choose Clear Persistent Storage.
For Xbox Series S:
- Navigate to the Settings menu by pressing the Xbox button on the controller.
- Select System.
- Then choose Console Info.
- Select Reset Console.
- Choose Keep My Games and Apps.
- In case, any update files are uninstalled then you will need to reinstall updates to some games.
For PlayStation 5:
- Long-press the PS button on your controller.
- Select Turn Off PS5.
- Wait until the PlayStation 5 power indicator light stops blinking.
- Long-press the Power button on your PS5 until you hear a second beep. [takes around 7 seconds]
- Now, connect your PlayStation controller to the console via the USB cable.
- Then press the PS button on your controller.
- Select Clear Cache and Rebuild Database.
- Next, select Clear System Software Cache.
- Select OK > Your PlayStation 5 will restart automatically.
For PlayStation 4:
- Shut Down your PS4 console (do not enter Rest Mode).
- Wait for the console light to stop blinking.
- Unplug the Power Cord from the back of the console.
- Wait for around 5 minutes and then reconnect the power cord again.
- Turn On the PS4 console.
Disable and Enable Crossplay
The cross-play feature allows all platform players to play with each other without any kind of limitations. That means PC gamers will also be able to connect with Xbox and PlayStation gamers in the multiplayer mode or vice versa.
However, you should turn it off and on again to refresh any kind of glitches. This trick fixes multiple issues at times. You can check the steps below to manually turn off and on the crossplay feature on COD Warzone 2.
For PlayStation:
- Launch Warzone 2.0 on your PlayStation console.
- From the main menu, go to Options.
- Press the R1 button three times on your controller to open Settings.
- Scroll down to the Account & Network menu.
- Turn Off Crossplay for a while.
- Then Enable Crossplay again to check for the issue.
For Xbox:
- Go to General Settings on your Xbox.
- Select Online safety and family.
- Go to Privacy and Online Safety.

For PC:

Check for the Network Status
If your internet network isn’t working properly or has a slower speed with download and upload then make sure to use a different internet connection. Either use a wireless network or a wired network to check for potential issues.
In case, multiple devices are already connected to the same network then disconnect all those devices to get faster speed. You can also use the online speed tester services to check how well your internet is responding. Also, try contacting your service provider to get technical help.
Check the Server Status
It becomes a common issue these days to deal with server downtimes or outages when it comes to multiplayer battle royale titles. Whenever the game servers are down or technically wrong with servers, unfortunate players can often experience multiple connectivity errors & in-game issues.
You can check the unofficial Down-Detector Call of Duty Status with real-time info. Meanwhile, try opening the Activision Online Services webpage to check for the platform status like PSN or Xbox Live.

- Open Settings by searching for it from the Start menu.
- Click on Privacy & Security on the left side.
- Go to Windows Security.
- Click on Firewall & Network Protection.
- A new popup window will open on the screen.
- Click on Domain network, Private network, and Public network one by one.
- Disable the Microsoft Defender Firewall option.
