Why does the TikTok Ban extend in the USA?

On August 14, 2020 (Friday), President Donald Trump has sanctioned an executive order that forces China’s Internet Company ByteDance to divest its business in the US within the next 90 days. President also said that TikTok has violated the security norms of the national security of the country, reported on CNBC. However, the President hasn’t shown any evidence yet.

Meanwhile, it’s also worth mentioning that the previous executive order was issued last week that has already banned transactions with the owners of TikTok and WeChat (ByteDance and Tencent Holdings Limited).

So, that previous order was to remove the app business in the country in 45 days only. But the newly announced executive order has increased the time limit to double for 90 days (3 months). Meanwhile, Trump also mentions to ByteDance to not only waive the business but also to destroy all the data of the US users completely.

Whereas ByteDance has replied in the same old-school manner that the TikTok app is loved by over 100 million US people and it only offers entertainment, expression, connection. Additionally, the platform also creates so many carrier opportunities for some years.

But we can agree with the order because when it comes to national security including user database, no entertainment platform or social media platform should be considered. However, Microsoft is still rumored to acquire TikTok’s business in the USA. The expected deal amount is between $10 to $30 billion approximately.
