The official launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has swept Samsung across the foldable smartphone industry, with the device redefining multitasking and portability in the high-end mobile sector.
Later on, on October 18, 2025, at an event attended by celebrities in Seoul, the Z Fold 7 will incorporate a more sophisticated AI, a more streamlined look, and a longer lifespan, making it a direct competitor to upcoming foldables by competitors.
As pre-orders begin today and shipments are scheduled at the end of November, this flagship will take the hybrid phone-tablet experience to the next level and power users and tech enthusiasts.
The news comes at a time when a foldable market is experiencing booming sales with an estimated 30 per cent year-over-year growth, fuelled by the need to have flexible devices in the hybrid workspace and immersive entertainment.
The new Samsung product is an extension of the past successes, but it also takes into consideration the most frequent complaints, such as the thickness and crease appearance, and it will be worth upgrading the product for both existing users and new ones.
Revolutionary Design: Thinner, Stronger, and More Versatile
With a new hinge mechanism and sophisticated materials, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an unbelievably slick profile at unfolded with a thickness of only 4.9mm, or almost 2mm less than the Z Fold 6. It is only 10.2mm when folded, and with a weight of 215 grams, it is lighter than most non-foldable flagships.
The external screen has also increased to 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a display of 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a traditional smartphone user interface to complete fast tasks.
On opening the star, it unveils an enormous 8.1-inch internal screen with smaller bezels to give it an immersive edge-to-edge appearance. The proprietary Under-Display Camera (UDC) technology of Samsung reduces the selfie camera notch so that the user is left with a flawless canvas through which he or she can consume the media and remain productive.
The hinge, which has been made with a multi-alloy steel structure, can be folded between 30 and 150 degrees, which allows video calls to be made hands-free or in tent-mode laptop systems.
Toughness is the main concern as an improved Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) layer is strengthened by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 3 with a drop of up to 2 meters. The IPX8 waterproofing goes further to give the product a submersion of 30 minutes in freshwater, with a new vapour chamber cooling system that is 25 times more effective in releasing heat during intensive gaming or AI processing.
The device comes in smooth finishes such as Phantom Navy and Icy Blue, with the frame made of recycled materials, which is also environmentally friendly, as Samsung pledges under the green initiative.
S5 Processor and Artificial Intelligence: Intelligence Meets the Power
Under the hood, Z Fold 7 is equipped to work with the Exynos 2500 chipset – an in-house 3nm wonder with an octa-core CPU setup that is capable of working at almost 20 per cent efficiency as compared to the previous one.
Combined with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB to 1TB of storage (UFS 4.1), it can support smooth multitasking, whether it is a split-screen app or an 8K video being edited on the fly. The actual game-changer is the incorporation of Galaxy AI 2,0, which is an improved on-device AI included in Samsung.
As part of FaceTime-like calls, such features as Live Translate now support real-time dubbing in 20 languages, and the Circle to Search transforms to predictive gestures, which draw a circle around something on-screen, which the AI then identifies and recommends purchasing, recipes, or styles.
Note Assist has a transcription and summary of meetings with contextual information, and the new Interpreter Mode utilises the dual screens for bilingual conversation, projecting translations side by side.
The triple rear camera system will be a feature that photography lovers will recognise: a 200MP main camera with a better low-light performance through the pixel-binning technology and a 12MP ultra-wide camera with gives a wide view of the surrounding environment, and a 10MP telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom.
The inner selfie cam is reduced to 4MP to have a more accurate video chat, supported by such AI features as Auto Framing and Portrait Enhancer. The battery life is boosted with a 4600mAh cell that charges 65W wire along with 25W wire, plus reverse charging to accessory charging.
The One UI 8 that runs on Android 16 optimises foldable-specific gestures and adds Flex Mode features to switch apps faster and have a customizable Cover Screen dashboard. Samsung is offering one year longer updates and security patches on its operating systems, a feature that guarantees sustainability in an ever-changing ecosystem.
Ecosystem Incorporation and Accessories
Z Fold 7 is the brightest in the ecosystem of Samsung, combining without any issues with Galaxy Watch 8 and Buds 4 Pro to become a single device for health tracking and spatial audio. Another S Pen Fold Edition is pressure sensitive to take notes and sketch on the inner display, and is housed in an optional slim case.
To be more productive, the dockable Book Cover Keyboard is a small laptop with an inbuilt trackpad and backlit keys. The features of DeX mode have been extended, and it now supports up to four external displays (USB-C), which is perfect for digital nomads.
Pricing, Availability, and Market Buzz
With a minimum upfront purchase price of 1,799 (with a 256GB base drive), the Z Fold 7 can be acquired with up to 800 trade-in promotions and becomes more affordable to those who upgrade. Greater storage levels with an increased tier go up to $2,399, where carrier bundles have free accessories. Perks in pre-orders, such as a year of Samsung Care+, and unique betas on AI features, are offered.
Launch markets will consist of the US, Europe and Asia and will be rolled out globally by December 2025. The analysts assume that the Z Fold 7 may dominate 45 per cent of the premium foldable market, which will pressurise its competitors, such as the Pixel Fold 3 and the Mate XT. Initial prototypes have amazed users with the smooth feel of the hinge and the natural reactions AI gives, but some criticism is that the initial cost is too high to be used by the masses.
The reaction of the consumers is varied yet positive: the slimmer design is perceived as a game-changer by the buzz on social media, and affordability is an obstacle. In response to this, Samsung offers financing and ecosystem offers to expand its appeal.
Essentially, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is not merely an evolution; nevertheless, it is a radical move towards mainstream foldables, with an innovative combination of hardware and AI predicting the needs of users.
With the maturity of the foldable tech field, Samsung will be able to become an innovator that will push the industry to adopt it, making sci-fi worlds a reality. As practical reviews are just around the corner, the Z Fold 7 will be a dominant handset both in the news and in the hands of consumers during the holiday season.
