OnePlus 6 Launched in India with 6.3-inch 19:9 OLED display and notch

OnePlus yesterday on May 16 announced their most waited flagship smartphone OnePlus 6 in London. OnePlus also sold invite tickets at Rs.999 for the launch event in India via Amazon. Today OnePlus launched OnePlus 6 in Mumbai, India on May 17 at NSCI. The Indian product launch event was started around 3:00 P.M. IST. The Bollywood Actor Mr. Amitabh Bachhan is the and the Brand Ambassador of OnePlus 6 device and the Chief guest at the launch event with other officials. The most controversial premium smartphone comes with the notched OLED display panel, though the notch can be hideable through display customization settings. The device is paired with Bullets wireless earphones which also supports fast charging costs Rs.3,999 only.

The launch event starts at 3:00 P.M. IST and held at the Dome at NSCI in Mumbai, India. Buyers can avail Rs.2,000 discount on SBI Debit and Credit Card during the transaction for the first week and also can get the No-Cost EMI for three months on all popular banks.

After the successful market of OnePlus 5 and 5T, the company decides to go with notch and the mirror finished back glass panel which gives a different look and feel. The 6.28-inch display looks quite smaller than the other 6-inch display devices due to the 19:9 aspect ratio and the narrow bezel. The company already tested almost 1,000 play store apps to work with the device flawlessly. The notch contains earpiece, front camera, and sensors. The notch is quite smaller than the iPhone X notch. It is a water and dust resistant up to some extent.

The OnePlus 6 comes with the Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Soc coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. There are two more variants will be available such as 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and the 8GB RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage variant. The Snapdragon 845 Soc is based on 10nm technology along with Adreno 630 GPU and Hexagon 685 DSP. It works with 4Ă—Kryo 385 Gold cores clocked up to 2.8GHz and 4Ă—Kryo 385 Silver cores clocked up to 1.7GHz. This is the X20 LTE modem includes LTE downlink (↓) 16 and uplink (↑) 13 category. The slogan for OnePlus 6 device was “The Speed You Need”, justifies it simply.


The device comes with 6.28-inch OLED Optic display with 19:9 aspect ratio with minimum bezels at the bottom along with notch. The resolution is 2280 Ă— 1080 pixels with sRGB and DCI-P3 Color Gamut. The notch can be hideable via system settings.

The smartphone features a single front camera of a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture which can take nice portrait shots with some beautification mode as well. The rear has a vertical dual 16MP of the primary sensor with Sony IMX519 and 20MP of secondary sensor camera setup of Sony IMX376K lens with depth mode and 2X lossless zoom and portrait effect and the f/1.7 aperture with LED flash.

The primary rear camera can record 4K videos @60fps with OIS support. Whether the primary camera sensor can shoot slo-mo 1080p videos @240fps and the 720p videos @480fps. The secondary 16MP camera featured Sony IMX371 lens which can record 1080p videos @30fps with EIS support. The primary camera comes with the f/1.7 aperture with 1.22-micron. Both the camera features PDAF, Panorama, auto HDR and bokeh mode.

The device supports 37 Global bands along with FDD and TDD LTE modem with the dual nano-SIM support.

The device has a non-removable 3,300mAh battery. The 3.5mm audio jack is still available which is a great thing. It has USB-C port for charging and data syncing. Other features are included such as rear fingerprint sensor and the face unlock option. The face unlock is much accurate and faster just like the OnePlus 5T.

The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Oxygen OS 5.1.2 out of the box pack. Android P beta version is also available for the device in Android P development forum and OnePlus development forum. It has a dedicated alert slider button on the right side above the power key. The device comes with three colors of Midnight Black, Mirror Black, and Silk White. There are three design category as well as Aluminum Frame, Glass Back, and Glass Front as well. The dimensions of this smartphone are 155.7 Ă— 75.4 Ă— 7.75mm and it weighs around 177 grams.

Price and Availability

The Price of OnePlus 6 for 6GB/64GB variant is $529, 8GB/128GB variant priced at $579, and the 8GB/256GB highest variant priced at $629 in the U.S. Today OnePlus 6 launched officially in India with the price tag of Rs.34,999 for the 6GB/64GB base model. The 8GB/128GB model priced at Rs.39,999 only. However, there is no information about the price and availability of OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition smartphone. The OnePlus 6 sale will start from May 22nd via OnePlus official store North America and Europe region. In India, you can buy it exclusively via Amazon India site from May 21 and OnePlus India from May 22nd onwards.
