Today at the Apple Event on September 14, 2021, the company has announced the latest generation of Apple iPad Mini 6 in the lineup along with iPhone 13/13 Mini/13 Pro models, Apple Watch Series 7, iOS 15/iPadOS15, etc.
Now, talking about the iPad Mini 2021 model, this time Apple has brought a couple of much-awaited or you can say serious improvements that we were waiting for a while. So, what’s new in the iPad Mini 2021 edition?
Well, a bunch of things like all-new design overhaul, all-new color options, 5G support, Apple Pencil 2nd-gen, improved display, faster CPU/GPU, and more. Yes! This time things have changed a lot and Apple seems worked hard on the all devices that they’ve released today.
Apple iPad Mini 6 Specifications
The all-new 6th-gen iPad Mini (2021) comes with a new all-screen design overview that includes minimum bezels from all sides just like the iPad Pro. It brings four color options such as pink, purple, starlight, and space grey.
This time Apple has brought back the old-school Touch ID integrated into the power button at the top. The iPad Mini 2021 has a bigger 8.3-inches Liquid Retina display that can go up to 500 nits of brightness. It also features a true tone and wide color gamut support.
It supports the Magnetic Apple Pencil 2nd-generation out of the box. The 2nd-gen magnetic Apple Pencil features a magnetic charging connector and gets easily attached to the side of the iPad Mini 6th-gen.
USB Type-C Charging Port
One of the most requested and big features in the 6th-gen iPad Mini is that the USB Type-C charging port has been added this time. Good job Apple! That means you don’t need to worry about the Lightning connector anymore.
Additionally, the Type-C port will offer you up to 5Gbps data transfer speeds which is 10x faster than the previous generation of iPad Mini.
5G Connectivity Support
And yes! Apple has finally included 5G connectivity to both the iPad Mini 6 and iPhone 13 series devices respectively. Coming to the higher speed of 5G connectivity, the new 6th-gen iPad Mini supports 5G with up to 3.5Gbps of download speed. That’s insane.
Apple A15 Bionic Chipset
Coming to the industry-leading flagship processor, Apple each year announces its own manufactured & designed chipset for all of its products. This time Apple A15 Bionic chipset is what we’re getting on all iPhone 13 series models and iPad Mini 6 too.
Talking about the Apple A15 Bionic SoC, it has a 6-core CPU that can deliver up to 40% more performance as compared to the previous generation of iPad Mini. Whereas a 5-core GPU can deliver up to 80% more performance for graphics tasks.
It also includes a 16-core Neural Engine for AI-related tasks much smoother and better which will eventually result in 2x more performance for machine learning processes like the new Live Text feature in iPadOS 15.
Apple
Camera Segment
Heading over to the camera segment, the 6th-gen iPad Mini packs a 12MP sensor on both the front and rear sides. The rear sensor offers Focus Pixels, a wider aperture, and a True Tone flashlight, etc.
While on the front side, Apple has included a 12MP ultra-wide camera that offers the ‘Center Stage’ feature that has also been introduced in the latest iPad Pro.
The front camera will focus and zoom in/out on the user while they move around during a video call so the focus will never get faded out. Additionally, it can recognize new people joining in.
The 6th-gen iPad Mini will come with iPadOS 15 out of the box that also features Live Text, Focus mode (Do Not Disturb), new widgets layout, Wi-Fi 6 network connectivity, and more.

The new 6th-gen iPad Mini is now available to pre-order from today onwards on the Apple Store and the pricing starts at $499. It will start shipping on September 24, 2021, according to Apple.
